Workers started putting up a chain link fence around the Gene Leahy Mall in downtown Omaha on Monday morning.
Pretty soon most of the park will be closed off to the public while contractors totally renovate the lagoon. The project that we first told you about last week, will take about six to eight months to complete and will cost nearly $1.9 million.
Once the fence is up, the lagoon will be drained. Then construction will begin on the lagoon as well as the retaining walls and sidewalks that surround it.
