Son charged with felony in the lack of care for his 103 year old mother. The 62-year-old from Murray,Nebraska is facing one count of abuse of a vulnerable adult for allegedly leaving his 103-year-old mother alone when he had been told by health care professionals, state health and human services officials and county authorities that she needed care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The mother and son lived together and the son had agreed to be responsible for her fulltime care, says the affidavit requesting an arrest warrant.
The Cassgram reports according to the affidavit, the recent investigation into the case against Dennis W. Meisinger began with a medical call on February 1st when a sheriff’s deputy responded along with rescue volunteers and the woman was found to allegedly have been left alone for a period of hours. The same situation was encountered by a deputy responding to the Murray residence on April 3rd for a medical alert. On both those occasions Meisinger told the deputies when he returned home that he had been out with a woman.
The affidavit says further investigation and questioning of those with knowledge of the situation revealed other occasions where she was allegedly left alone between February 1st and April 3rd.
An arrest warrant was issued and Meisinger was taken into custody a week ago and was arraigned in Cass County Court earlier this week. He is charged with a Class IIIA Felony. Bond was set at $3500, 10% applicable. A preliminary hearing was set for April 25th. He remained in Cass County Jail on Thursday.
The care of the mother has been placed under the oversight of the state health and human services department.
