Two Iowa nursing home companies have agreed to pay $875,000 in penalties to the federal government.
Bethany Lutheran Home was accused of overbilling Medicare and Medicaid for certain therapy services between 2005 and 2008. Bethany Lutheran will pay $675,000 and provide additional training to its workers at the Council Bluffs facility.
HCM Management, which runs 11 Iowa nursing homes, was sanctioned for allegedly employing two workers who had been barred from working in a federally funded facility. It will pay $200,812 to the federal government.
