His son killed himself. Now, he is making the rounds, talking to schools about stopping bullying.
Kirk Smalley is from Oklahoma. His son, Ty, shot himself in 2010 after being bullied for years.
Smalley gave a presentation to the St. Bernard Catholic School in Omaha on Wednesday. Within minutes, Smalley had the crowd, and himself, crying.
"I relive the day we lost our son, Ty, every single time I do a presentation," said Smalley. "It's difficult but at the same time we do this so that no other babies are lost to this and no other mommies and daddies have to live the nightmare that we live everyday."
