The Saunders County Sheriff's Department says the accident was
reported a little after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and occurred about a
mile and a half northwest of Morse Bluff.
The victim was identified as 57-year-old Norman Poppe, of North
Deputies say Poppe was driving east on a rural road when his
pickup left the roadway.
The truck veered back onto the road and ran off again into a cornfield.
It traveled through the field for several hundred yards until it reached a hay meadow and struck the tree.
An autopsy has been scheduled.
Deputies say it doesn't appear that Poppe had been drinking alcohol.
