The 17-year-old charged in a fatal hit and run crash has had her case moved to juvenile court. The decision was made by Judge Polk Tuesday morning.
In September, Mikala Rinehart was booked one felony count of leaving the scene of an accident causing death. Police said 64-year-old Frank Huerta was struck while crossing the intersection of 42nd and H Streets.
Rinehart's Attorney William Gallup said, “I’m glad to get the case into juvenile court; that’s where 17-year-olds belong. She wasn’t charged with motor vehicle homicide, just not stopping, so that’s where she belongs.”
