A fatal crash involving four motorcycles and an SUV took place on Old Lincoln Highway just north of Council Bluffs Tuesday evening.
Pottawattamie County Sheriff Jefferey Danker tells Channel Six one 18-year-old Joseph Goodwin was killed and two others were taken to the Nebraska Medical Center.
Witnesses said a black 2009 Buel motorcycle was northbound on Old Lincoln Highway. While passing another vehicle, the driver of the Buel, 18-year-old John Harter, lost control. Both he and his passenger, Joseph Goodwin, were thrown off.
The Sheriff's report says the Buel continued into the path of a southbound 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle, which was being driven by 67-year-old Kathryn Kennon. Kennon and Harter were taken to the hospital; however, their current conditions have not been released. Goodwin died at the scene.
Officials said a third person was also hospitalized due to shock.
Goodwin's friends are finding comfort and solidarity through social media.
"Twitter, facebook, instagram everything," Friend Emily Rindone said. It's nothing but good things and we just talking about all the laughter that was in the air when we were around Joey and how good of a person he was and everyone was so hurt by this."
