A burglar thinks he can slip under the radar, but a quick-thinking manager stops him in his tracks.
Storage lots seem to attract the eye of burglars all too often.
A Place to Store, a storage facility off 84th Street and Blondo, almost fell victim a few days ago when a would-be burglar cut a hole into the chain link fence and got inside.
But with his first step inside, "The alarm went off, and it goes off inside the office, as opposed to out here, and so that alerted me," said the manager.
The manager tells WOWT 6 News she lives on site. From her window, she could see a man dressed all in black cutting locks off units.
"He had a bolt cutter, that cuts the locks off," said the manager.
Dropping the locks on the ground as he went, it seemed the first three units didn't hold any appeal.
"So he went around the corner, and into a much bigger unit," said the manager.
At the fourth and fifth unit, the man dressed in black found some things he liked. The manager said he began stacking power tools in a pile as he rummaged.
"By then I am on the phone with the police saying, we have an intruder," said the manager.
Police quickly arrived, but the noise from the opening gate scared the man away. In just over ten minutes he was able to get into five different units.
