Bluejay basketball fans packed DJ Sokol Arena in Omaha on Selection Sunday for a watch party, waiting to hear where the team is headed for the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament.
Then came the announcement that Creighton will play Louisiana Friday in San Antonio.
It's been an unforgettable season for 26-7 Creighton, making an impressive debut in the Big East Conference. Despite Saturday night’s 65-58 loss to Providence in the Big East championship game at New York’s Madison Square Garden, fans have high hopes for the Big Dance.
"Hopefully at least Sweet 16 to set another milestone for the program," said fan Tony Krings. "It's been a great team, the guys are tremendous for the community, you can see how well they get along with each other. Hopefully, they can keep it going for at least three, four, maybe six more games."
"I was hoping at least a three seed, but I don't know at this point and I don't know where they'll be playing but we'll have to wait and find out,” said fan Vivian Trumbauer. "I'm hopeful."
