An update to a story only seen on Channel Six about a home wiped out by burglars near 96th and Blondo.
Steve Nickles spoke with Channel Six Monday about burglars who got away with thousands of dollars worth of items, including his truck. It's a 2005 grey Ford F-150 with tinted windows and black rims. He says he hasn't heard back from police about the burglary.
“I'm forced to do my own investigating, I'm trying to work and trying to get back on my feet and there's leads out there that I have to follow up on,” says Nickles.
A woman who saw the story says her car was also stolen Thursday morning from a parking lot near 95th and Blondo. The woman thought the two incidents may be related after she realized her stolen car was found abandoned directly behind Nickles' house.
Inside her car were stolen items belonging to other people, including some of Nickles construction tools.
“I was pretty flabbergasted, the luck of the straw it fell in my favor, it was a good feeling,” says Nickles.
There was also a phone which Nickles believes holds even more clues to the thieves.
Nickles managed to get $500 worth of some of his tools back, but is still missing his truck. If you see it call Omaha Police 402-444-5652.
