A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Pawnee and Richardson counties in southeast Nebraska until 3 p.m. Thursday.
Falling temperatures are expected throughout the rest of Wednesday with strong winds and scattered snow showers. No significant accumulation is expected.
Most locations will be dropping into the single digits by 6 p.m. In addition to the cold temperatures, strong winds will gust as high as 40 mph making the "feels like" temperature drop below zero.
Skies will gradually clear Wednesday night with lows dropping to -5 degrees. Although the wind will gradually decrease, wind chill values will still range between -20 and -30. Make sure to dress warm and check on any outdoor pets.
