A 56-year-old man is headed to prison for using fake ATM deposits to inflate his girlfriend's bank account.
The Lincoln Journal Star reports that Robert L. Harris was sentenced Thursday to six to 10 years in prison. Harris pleaded no contest to theft by deception in Lancaster County District Court.
Lincoln police say Harris was involved in an April 12 scheme to inflate his girlfriend's bank account balance by making fake deposits, then withdrawing money at a Lincoln ATM and a casino in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Police say Harris' girlfriend, Kelly Nash, took part in the scheme but reported her ATM card as lost or stolen so they wouldn't get in trouble. Police say they are looking for a third woman who was allegedly involved, 40-year-old Pamela L. Haynes.
