First responders were called to OPPD's North Omaha Station Tuesday following a report of an explosion.
According to OPPD, smoldering coal ignited in a coal mill at the North Omaha Station, near 25th and John J. Pershing, around 8:15 a.m. The station has five units that grind coal for the plant to use.
A spokesperson told WOWT 6 News the coal that ignited Tuesday was in a unit that was offline. No injuries were reported.
