A former Nebraska prison worker accused of having an inappropriate relationship with an inmate was given probation on Tuesday.

A Lancaster County judge sentenced 37-year-old Misty McGinty of Beatrice to 18 months probation for attempted conveyance of an article to an inmate.

McGinty was an employee at the Lincoln Correctional Center in October 2013 when she told an investigator she had written letters to an inmate. She also admitted to touching and kissing the inmate several times.

McGinty resigned and later pleaded no contest to the charge.
