Ewing Promise Boosts United Way

In northwest Omaha Wednesday, we found the Douglas County Treasurer making good on a promise.

John Ewing Junior worked at the customer service center at 108th and West Maple.

Several weeks ago, he challenged his staff to give at least $50 to the United Way. Those who did, were entered in a drawing to have Ewing perform the winner's duties for two hours.

Jennifer Bevins, who works customer service, won. She said this was an interesting day.

“It's going great. He's been a big help. He's learning how to do my job, and that's interesting.”

Ewing's staff raised $2,700 in the campaign for the United Way.
