Equal Employment Ordinance

A group of Omaha leaders strives to amend the city’s anti-discrimination ordinance. The equal Omaha Coalition and Councilman Ben Gray spoke in support of change. They spoke about the importance of having importance of having equal employment rights for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender workers.

“This sends a message that our community is open for business and everyone is welcome,” Ben Gray said.

The ordinance would make it illegal to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. A public hearing is set for March 6th with a final vote set for March 13th.
