Roxy Galloway knows the terror of Tuesday night’s shootings firsthand. She is the Wendy’s employee the robber confronted with the gun.
The young woman had just come back from maternity leave.
She is still confused about what she saw and heard and told us, “It just felt surreal. It almost felt like I was watching a TV show. It didn't feel like I was actually experiencing it."
She paints a picture going beyond the crime scene tape and flashing lights.
“There's a chance that I couldn't have come home to my family or my daughter, knowing that my one-month-old daughter could have been mom-less."
She was less than a foot away from the robbery suspect as gunfire was exchanged with police.
She said, “There was a camera guy in the building and he ran over to, there were doors on this side, and there was a man lying on the ground."
It was Cops TV crew member Bryce Dion.
Roxy said, “The camera guy started freaking out saying, ‘stay with me, stay with me,’ to call 911."
Galloway called 911 but learned from us Wednesday that Dion later died at the hospital. She realized it could have been her.
"It terrifies me because I wouldn't want her to grow up without a mom or my mom have to bury her daughter or that either. Scary to think about."
Trying to understand what happened, her attention turns to her daughter who turned one-month-old on Tuesday.
Galloway says all of this was over just $400.
