A former employee of a North Platte charity is accused of stealing from the nonprofit organization.
North Platte television station KNOP-TV reports that 33-year-old Ashley Pankonin was arrested and charged with theft by deception on Thursday.
The North Platte Police Department says officers were call to Voices for Families on Wednesday to investigate a possible theft.
The business discovered some files missing and suspected it was internal theft.
Police believe Pankonin is responsible for taking over $1,500 from their business account for her personal use.
Pankonin is also accused of taking a company cellphone for personal use while the bill was being paid by the charity.
Pankonin could not be reached for comment Saturday.
