Emotional Plea For Return of Stolen Rosary

A grieving widow becomes a crime victim, just hours before her husband's funeral. The family asked Fact Finders to help.

The day before they married 63 years ago, Donald gave Dolores a rosary. Dolores the theft victim asked her last name not be used fearing other burglars might hit. She says, " It is sterling silver and each bead is like a rose."

Donald died last week and after the wake Friday night Dolores put the rosary in her purse that she sat on a table at home before going upstairs to bed. Exhausted from an emotional day. .Dolores says, " I didn't hear anything."

The next morning Dolores discovers her purse missing. Burglars broke in between the wake and funeral. Someone broke into the widow's house through a back door, the pry marks still visible. Also a bulb from the motion light is cracked as if someone tried to knock it out.

A son in law wonders if the burglars struck after reading the obituary. He says, "They had to be in the house when she came home from the wake service."

Dolores says the purse had checks, keys and some cash. But it's the rosary her late husband gave her 63 years ago that she hopes a thief will return.
In tears Dolores the theft victims says, " I’d tell them please that's part of my life that's so important."

Death parted the couple and then a thief took a symbol of their life together. But Dolores still has faith that the sterling silver rosary will come back to her.

The burglars also took a "portable drill" used to take family photos off the basement wall, for display at the funeral last Saturday.
Finding that might lead to the stolen purse and rosary.

Call Omaha police if you can provide any leads in this emotional case.
