Ely Found Guilty In Winters Homicide

A jury has handed down another murder conviction for one of the five suspects involved in the murder of Kris Winters in July 2011.

Nicholas Ely was found guilty of 1st degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony. He will be sentenced in December.

Winters was killed after a botched robbery attempt at his home near 51st and U Streets.

Two other suspects have been to trial; Marquis Patton and Ryan Elseman.

Elseman was convicted in September and will be sentenced in November.

Patton's trial ended in a hung jury. Patton is scheduled for a new trial later in October.

The other two suspects, Emily Gusman and Drake Northrop have both waived their rights to a speedy trial.
