Over the last few months, Council Bluffs police officers with the PAR unit checked 71 businesses to see if they sell tobacco to minors.
Of the 71 businesses in Council Bluffs that were checked, eight sold tobacco to an underage informant who worked with the Council Bluffs Police Department.
Citations were issued to each of the eight clerks at the following businesses:
The citation includes a $200 fine, plus surcharge and court costs. CBPD said civil fines and administrative sanctions, which can include loss of license can also be taken.
