A felon in possession may have literally given himself away in Omaha this weekend. Police say when a cruiser approached a large gathering of people, the crowd began to split up. One of them ran.
An officer followed the man who was later identified as 34-year old Larry Carter. When Carter ran into a house down the street at 18th & Lake, the officer followed. The officer reported seeing Carter hand something to a woman while Carter was being placed into custody.
After securing the suspect, the officer reports following the woman into a bedroom and saw her place an item under a bed. The officer looked and discovered a handgun.
Since Carter was a convicted felon, he was arrested and booked for being a felon in possession of a handgun and obstruction. Carter is also known as Larry Fentress-Carter.
The incident was reported at 8:33pm Saturday.
