An Easter Seals camp this month managed to combine two things that usually don't go together: summer camps and wedding planning.
At Camp Eagle, Nebraska, we found Camp Director Lily Sughroue and camper Blake Wertz enjoying a summer day with the lake as a backdrop.
Lily told us, “This is always one of my most favorite weeks of the summer because I have a lot of my really good friends come out to enjoy camp."
Easter Seals has been helping people with disabilities for nearly a century.
The memories of summer camp often fade slowly -- if at all. The friendships remain long after you're done fishing.
Of the 27 campers on site last week, three of them came away with something that rarely happens at the camp: a wedding invitation.
Lily told us, “When I thought about who do I want to include in my wedding, which is a huge part of my life, I was hands-down I want these guys to be there to help me out."
Blake, Chad and Zach will not only be at Lily's wedding in the fall, they'll be ushers.
Chad Bartles told us, “It felt awesome.”
Zach Kriz said, "I was surprised and happy and also happy to be in her wedding."
Blake Wertz added, “She's awesome."
Lily's walk down the aisle now comes with a built-in cheering section. It will be hard to top that next summer.
The Easter Seals camps run throughout the summer months for children and adults with disabilities.
