Those needing access to the Elkhorn River are having an easier time. An area known as “Graske Crossing” is now open for the first time since flooding damaged the entrance in June 2010.

Graske Crossing is near West Dodge Road. Another entry point 2.5 river miles upstream opened two weeks ago at West Maple Road.

The small parks offer access to the river for canoeing, kayaking, tubing, fishing and picnicking. They are open 6am-10pm daily. Both parks will be closed for the season November 1.

Farther upstream, the Elkhorn Crossing Recreation area remains closed for repair. This is near 252nd and Bennington Road. No date for re-opening has been set.
