Twenty-four-year-old Courtney Davis of Mission was standing in a
second-hand clothing store when the Feb. 22 quake shook Christchurch.
She was visiting the city with another student, and her friend had left a few hours earlier for Auckland. That's where they both were studying and working as student nurses.
Davis was less than an hour away from catching a shuttle to the airport herself when the quake hit.
She ran from the city with two other women she just met.
Eventually, she was able to get out of the city on a Red Cross flight. As many as 240 people died in the earthquake.
