E-cigs were back on the agenda for the Papillion-La Vista School Board Monday night but a decision on them is still pending.
The board discussed whether or not adult staff and visitors should be allowed to use e-cigs on campus. Currently all tobacco products as well as e-cigs are banned for students.
District spokesperson Annette Eyman said, "It's hard to know what’s in the devices. It’s hard to know right now. We don't know the long-term health effects from using the devices. It's also a role model thing."
The district worries if adults use them, kids will too. The board will vote on a ban at the next meeting.
The board also discussed a name for the new school behind Werner Park. The choices: Queen Elementary or North Shore Elementary.
