A Bellevue man is accused of drunk driving and and taking out not one, but two power poles at 27th and Madison. The poles were pretty much removed from the ground but the wires were still hanging low.
A transformer pole had the bottom taken out, so electrical equipment was hanging about 10 feet up in the air. The front passenger side tire was impaled over half way into the curb.
Nick Baker ran from the scene after speaking with neighbors who woke up to the explosion. His girlfriend who lived nearby denied that he was there.
Bellevue Officer Franks waited nearby and until Nicholas showed up. Police said Baker denied everything but the neighbor was able to positively identify him.
No estimate on damage costs from the weekend accident.
