Once again the Heartland receives beneficial rains. A band of heavy rainfall set up across the metro the past 24 hours. Rainfall amounts ranged from 1 to 2.5 inches generally. Each week we continue to receive abundant moisture which has helped to ease the drought.
Drought intensity has lowered from severe to moderate across the majority of the metro and far southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa are now just experiencing abnormally dry conditions. The drought certainly isn't over yet but the situation continues to improve weekly.
Since March 1st, 9.76 inches of rain has been recorded in Omaha. That amount is over 3.5 inches above normal. So far this month in Omaha, about 4 inches of rain has fallen.
