Drought Update

A large portion of the Heartland, including the metro is under an extreme drought. The Climate Prediction Center indicates drought persisting through mid-April.

A solid 9-11 inches of rain is needed to put an end to the drought. The probability of that happening soon is very low. If we are hoping to get that amount of liquid in the form of snow, we would need 90-110 inches to fall, which is highly unlikely.

Our next chance for precipitation is Sunday and the metro could get up to a quarter of an inch of rain. We'll take what we can get at this point and hope for more.

Review the slide show to get a better look at how bad the drought is.
