Drought intensity has lowered across the Heartland thanks to beneficial rains this month and especially since April 9th. Rainfall amounts this month are running above normal and range from two inches in Lincoln to three inches in Omaha to over five inches in parts of southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa.

According to the latest drought monitor, drought intensity lowered across a large majority of the Corn Belt states. Drought is forecast to improve through the summer across the central portion of the Corn Belt and some improvement is expected across the western Corn Belt.
