Drought conditions linger. The latest U.S. Drought Monitor Map has all but the southeastern portion of Cass County in the “Extreme Drought” category, the fourth highest level on the five level map.
The southeastern part of the county is in the “Severe Drought” category, the third highest category.
The Cassgram reports about two-thirds of the state of Nebraska—the area west of a line from the northeastern corner extending southwest to the Kansas line south of Grand Island—is in the “exceptional Drought” category, the fifth and most severe category.
