A collision involving a semi and a pickup on Interstate 80 east of Grand Island killed one person Thursday morning.
The crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. between the Giltner interchange and Grand Island, killing the pickup driver. The driver of the semi was hospitalized. Their names have not been released.
Authorities say the pickup was eastbound and drifted into the median. It then went into the westbound lanes and struck the semi head on. Both vehicles were engulfed in flames. Westbound traffic that was initially diverted has reopened.
