A pickup driver was killed and a passenger injured in an accident in Fremont Friday night.
The truck was heading westbound on 23rd Street around 10:30 p.m. when the driver lost control, went into a parking lot and struck a Hy-Vee store's gas pump. The pump ruptured, causing a gas leak.
The driver's name has not been released. He was 44 years old. The passenger was taken to the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Name and condition have not been disclosed.
There was also a pet in the vehicle, which was taken by animal control.
