A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for areas west of Omaha until 11 p.m.; however, the metro area will likely have thunderstorms on and off throughout the overnight.
High wind speeds on Thursday are to blame for toppling a semi-truck on I-80 east of Council Bluffs.
The driver, 60-year-old Kenneth Acquistapace from Goleta, California, was hurt in the crash near mile marker 12 of westbound I-80. The Iowa State Patrol says the truck rolled onto the driver's side and rested in the westbound lanes.
Acquistapace was taken to Mercy hospital in Council Bluffs for treatment. His condition has not yet been released.
