Two children were hospitalized Saturday afternoon following a car accident on the North Expressway in Omaha.
Police say a northbound car was merging onto Highway 75 from the Lake Street on-ramp just before 4 p.m. when another vehicle changed lanes in front of it, forcing the driver to take evasive action to avoid a collision and losing control.
The car left the roadway and went up an embankment, striking a tree and losing the left rear wheel. The vehicle then rolled down the embankment coming to rest on Highway 75. Two children in the rear seats were taken to Creighton University Medical Center.
Two-year-old Tarajah Samuel suffered a head injury not considered to be life threatening. Four-year-old Tavion Samuel-Champaigne suffered a possible concussion. Their mother, the driver, 25-year-old Marketta Samuel of Omaha, was not hurt.
