Omaha police are looking for a driver who, they say, hit a toddler Saturday evening, then took off.
It happened around eight o'clock Saturday night near South 16th and Martha Streets. Witnesses tell police a dark vehicle was headed south on 16th when two-year-old Kevin Machuca ran out from between two parked vans.
The driver hit the child, then stopped briefly, before taking off southbound. Machuca is expected to be ok. He suffered a head injury and was taken to Children's Hospital in serious, but non-life threatening, condition.
Investigators describe the vehicle involved as a black Monte Carlo or Chevy Impala. They say it may have damage on the driver side front bumper. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact authorities at 402-444-7867.
According to police reports, child protective services was contacted regarding the living conditions at the toddler's home.
