Alexander Peralta's blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit and Omaha Police say he was driving without a license when he crashed into home and pole. That's when the 23 year-old took off on foot in temperatures around 5 degrees.
Police were called out to a home near 33rd & Woolworth shortly after 2:00 a.m. They found a white Toyota Camry that wrecked into the front step of a home.
Officers said it stemmed from Peralta disobeying a traffic stop at 24th & Woolworth just minutes earlier. Police said before wrecking into the house, Peralta had clipped a light pole.
When police arrived at the house, there was no driver to be found. He was seen heading east into Hanscom Park.
Omaha police set up a perimeter around the park while they waited for a K9 unit from Sarpy County to assist. Peralta was eventually found in the southwest corner of the park about an hour later.
