The Fremont man who allegedly crossed the center line and crashed into a motorcycle driven by Scott Petersen, killing the Omaha firefighter last month, will be charged with misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide.
Arraignment for 30-year-old Jonathan Mumm is scheduled for August 4th.
The 37-year-old Petersen was going northbound on 240th Street just south of Pacific when a southbound pickup hit him head-on early on the morning of May 30th.
Petersen served as a firefighter for both the Elkhorn and Omaha departments. He leaves behind a wife and children.
"He was a highly skilled, highly trained professional," said Steve LeClair with the Firefighters Union. "He was part of the Nebraska Task Force Hazmat Special Ops, he was on initial response at the International Nutrition explosion and everything associated with that incident.”
There have been a number of accidents in that area over the past few weeks. It’s wide open with only a yellow line separating traffic in both directions.
