A 20-year-old woman tells crash investigators that another vehicle was straddling the center line and was coming her way. She successfully avoided a head-on crash, but ended up rolling her vehicle instead.
It happened about 4:30 p.m. Thursday on 144th Street about a quarter-mile north of Waverly Road in Cass County, Nebraska. Sheriff William Brueggemann identified the victim as Courtney Marie Landers of Weeping Water.
She says that she tried to move over to avoid the head-on collision. However, she ended up swerving back and forth several times before leaving the road and rolling onto her Jeep Grand Cherokee’s top.
Even though she was unrestrained, Landers and her passenger refused treatment at the scene. Landers was arrested on an outstanding warrant in Otoe County. Excessive speed is also believed to be a factor in the crash.
