A driver and passenger walked away from a scary crash in Montgomery County, Iowa late Monday night.
Just after 10:15 p.m., someone called 911 to report suspicious activity near the Anderson Conservation Area in near Red Oak. Deputies found a silver 2001 Chevy Impala in the ditch along 190th Street.
The driver, Allison Aufdenberg, told deputies she was speaking with a passenger and looked away from the road. When she turned back, she saw that the car was near the edge of the highway and overcorrected. She struck a nearby utility pole and ended up in the ditch.
The passenger, Kendra Hardy, suffered minor lacerations and was treated at the scene. Aufdenberg was not hurt.
