Drake University has expressed interest in housing papers belonging to U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin amid a dispute with Iowa State University.
The senator and his wife Ruth met with officials from the private university at a holiday party last weekend.
Harkin has threatened to cut ties with his namesake policy institute at Iowa State University if President Steven Leath does not remove restrictions to research agriculture. Leath has warned the institute must coordinate agriculture work with the approval of the school's agriculture policy center.
The senator declined to comment through a spokeswoman.
