Downtown drivers need to do some maneuvering until the construction work is finished.
Utilities are currently being updated and that has shut down 16th Street from Harney to Farnam. The actual construction work will follow that.
Area businesses have been told to expect the closure to last into the fall.
Jerry Smock, owner of Doozy's Sub & Pizza Shop, said, "So far so good. But we've noticed a little bit of a slowdown in some foot traffic, which is probably gonna be expected. But we're still open and you know it's gonna be tough go for a while. But we're still positive and thinking about the outcome and how nice it's going to be down here once the 16th Street development is complete."
Once finished, parking will be added along the street and that’s something that will help business.
