The Douglas County Separate Juvenile Court will soon be accessible online. It is set to join the rest of Nebraska on JUSTICE, the state’s court management system, starting Monday, Nov. 14.
“This is the same system used by the rest of the courts in Douglas County and the state,” said John Friend, Clerk of the District Court for Douglas County. “The move to JUSTICE will make doing business with the Separate Juvenile Court much easier for everyone.”
JUSTICE (Judicial Users System To Improve Court Efficiency) will provide on-line access by means of case review screens at www.nebraska.gov with images of all Douglas County Separate Juvenile Court documents from April 17, 2008, to the present.
Access was made available during the summer to court cases from all 93 of the state’s counties. As with District Court, this will be a complete conversion. That means all of the cases from the court will be converted to the new system.
E-filing and e-service for the Separate Juvenile Court is expected to be available early next year. Those services already are available for District Court.
Users will be able to search by a person’s name, the type of case, the judge, attorney or year. A new case-numbering system is part of this update, and some time will be required for employees to become familiar with the new system.

“The use of JUSTICE in recent months has been making our courts more available to everyone,” Friend said. “We will greatly appreciate your patience as we make the transition to the new JUSTICE system in our Separate Juvenile Court.”
