Talk of privatizing care at the Douglas County Health Center drew some emotional response this morning at the Douglas County Board meeting. Some of the discussion was on whether to hire a private firm to run the health center to help reduce the 12 million dollars in county money spent on the health center each year.
After more than four hours of debate from both sides the board voted 7-0 not to close or sell the facility and also 7-0 not to request a proposal to outsource the work.
The Douglas County Board will meet again in two weeks to discuss how else to proceed in finding ways to reduce that 12 million dollar figure.
