A Bellevue elementary school was locked down for about an hour Thursday, while officers searched for an armed man.
Police were called to the area of 28th Avenue and Wayne Street around 11:15 a.m. to investigate a report of a woman banging on an outside window. When officers arrived, the woman told officers she was the victim of domestic violence.
At the same time, a man was seen running from the scene. Officers were told he was possibly armed. Based on that information, Betz Elementary School placed their school in lockdown until the incident was resolved.
The suspect, 19-year-old Darien Davis, was found hiding inside a closet of a nearby home. He was arrested on multiple charges, including domestic violence - third degree assault, possession of a stolen firearm, minor in possession of a firearm, flight to avoid arrest, obstructing an officer, as well as, three outstanding warrants and various drug charges.
