A suspect involved in a domestic disturbance was taken into custody Wednesday on a variety of charges including unlawful discharge of a firearm. He’s identified as 31-year-old Juan Carlos Martinez-Del-Pozo.
Police responded to the call of the disturbance around 4:30 p.m.and found that a vehicle had hit a fence owned by the Madonna School.
The caller said she was trying to take her husband to Immanuel Hospital because he was having some suicidal thoughts. She said he got upset, grabbed the wheel, and forced the vehicle off the road. He then reportedly got out of the vehicle and fired four times into the air with a firearm before running away.
Officers arrived in the area and notified local schools and community centers including the Madonna School at 6402 North 71st Plaza.
Officers were in the area searching for the possible armed/suicidal suspect for about 90 minutes when the suspect approached officers and gave himself up without incident.
He was booked for Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm, reckless driving and Destruction of Property.
