Domestic assault reports in Cass county. According to the Nebraska Crime Commission, law enforcement personnel responded to 69 calls that involved domestic assaults in Cass County in 2012, four less than in 2011. Over the last five years, domestic assault incidents in which law enforcement responded averaged about 73 per year in the county.
Of the domestic assaults in 2012, two were aggravated (with weapons or the means to inflict death or great bodily harm). Both of those incidents resulted in arrests by the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.
Of the remaining “simple domestic assaults” (no weapons or serious injuries), arrests occurred in 31 of the 67 incidents; 11 by the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, 20 by the Plattsmouth Police Department.
A call is categorized as domestic if it involves family or household members (present and former) or those who are or have been involved in a dating relationship.
Statewide, there were 5,478 domestic assault incidents reported in 2012. There were 5,303 reported in 2011.
