A 9-year-old Omaha girl will likely need reconstructive surgery around her mouth after being bitten by an English bulldog Saturday afternoon.
Police say a friend of the girl's mother was visiting their apartment northwest of South 144th Street and West Center Road around 12:30 p.m. with the dog. When the girl tried to pet the dog it bit the girl in the face.
The dog's owner, 44-year-old Donna Matherne, was cited for not having a dog license and no rabies vaccinations. The dog was impounded by the Nebraska Humane Society.
