Two people were cited for child neglect after a dog, described as a pit bull, was found biting a 3-year-old girl’s head. The incident was reported June 16 at a home near 29th & Meredith Avenue in Omaha.
A police report indicates that when the child’s grandmother walked into the house for a moment, the child walked onto the porch where the dog had been tethered. After hearing a commotion, the grandmother returned to the porch and saw the dog biting the girl’s head. When police were called to the home, officers reported observing a severe laceration to the girl’s scalp and right ear.
The father reported to police that he had placed the tethered dog to the porch without a muzzle and instructed the grandmother not to allow the girl near the dog.
The grandmother, 60-year-old Alberta Davis, and father, 41-year-old Damon Starks, were cited for child neglect.
