WOWT 6 News Crime Stoppers is teaming up with law enforcement agencies from across the metro to dedicate a day to putting wanted suspects behind bars.

Below you will see several suspects wanted for a variety of crimes. If you know where one of these suspects are, call the phone number listed next to their photo. Remember, tips that lead to an arrest and conviction may be worth a cash reward.

“It's that old ‘a picture's worth a thousand words,’” says Papillion Police Lt. Orin Orchard. “A photograph, visually, it's much easier to identify someone off a photograph other than just saying white male, 5-foot-10, 180 pounds, that doesn't really mean a whole lot."

If you lock the doors to your vehicles every night, that's a good first step, but are you mindlessly leaving bait behind? A GPS in the window, a shopping bag in the back, even change in the console? Taking note of these little things is one of the most important steps you can take to deter crime in your neighborhood.

"Shut down and lock everything up at night,” says Lt. Orchard. “A lot of thefts occur because they are thefts of opportunity. Most crimes are not pre-planned and really structured. They're just crimes of opportunity."

One crime we learned about just this week involved a truck backed up to an open garage and someone stealing several items in broad daylight. When the victim asked neighbors if they'd seen anything, neighbors mentioned they noticed an odd vehicle, but just assumed it was someone the resident knew. A good reminder is to pay close attention to your surroundings and speak up or call police if you see something out of the ordinary.
